Daughter's Of God Spa Night

This month for our Relief Society Activity we had a Daughter's of God Spa Night. We made homemade body scrub, painted nails, had a foot soak and massage chairs, then we also had a lovely yoga session. Thank you to all the ladies who donated their talents and for those who donated their time to make this night possible and those who came and made the night even more enjoyable with fun conversation.

2016 Orem Utah Sunset Heights Stake GOALS

Hastening the work of Salvation: We will become true disciples of Jesus Christ through loving, inviting, and serving others.

1. Two missionary lessons per week per ward. The full-time missionaries' responsibilities is to teach. We as members are to find people for the missionaries to teach. Although we should help all people make it to the next ordinance, our central focus must be on Finding, Teaching, and Baptizing new members.

2. Invite someone to hear the gospel. The emphasis here is to invite someone to meet with the missionaries, attend church, come to your family home evening, or to listen to or watch a gospel message. The invitation can be to someone in the ward, at work, while traveling, or anywhere.

3. Family name to the Temple. To obtain the full blessings of the Temple we need to help our ancestors because "...neither can we without our dead be made perfect." (D&C 128:15) A 3-week family history course will continue to be taught in each ward this year to help us find and prepare family names for the Temple.

January 10 Sunday Lesson Recap

Mandy Christensen gave our lesson today from Howard W. Hunter Ch. 1: "Jesus Christ--Our Only Way to Hope and Joy.

How do we get to know God better? --Helaman 3:35
How do we remember Him daily?

"We must know Christ better than we know him; we must remember him more often than we remember him; we must serve him more valiantly than we serve him. Then we will drink water springing up unto eternal life and will eat the bread of life." -Howard W. Hunter.

We need to strive to build our personal testimonies and Jesus Christ and the atonement.

Jesus said, "In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

Let us cheerfully do all things that lie in our power; and then may we stand still, with the utmost assurance, to see the salvation of God, and for his arm to be revealed [D&C 123:17; emphasis added]

"Brothers and sisters, you have and will have worries and challenges of many kinds, but embrace life joyfully and full of faith. Study the scriptures regularly. Pray fervently. Obey the voice of the spirit and the prophets. Do all that you can to help others. You will find great happiness in such a course. Some glorious day all your worries will be turned to joys." -Howard W. Hunter
